Dr. ZHOU Wu Published Research Paper on Serial of Science

     On June 13, Dr. ZHOU Wu, a teacher of Medicine and Health Faculty, LSU, published a research paper, entitled The lncRNA H19 mediates breast cancer cell plasticity during EMT and MET plasticity by differentially sponging miR-200b/c and let-7b, in the Science Signaling (serial of "Science", 2016-2017 impact factor 6.494).

     Tumor metastasis refers to process where the malignant tumor cells from the primary site enter the secondary site by way of lymphatic channel, blood vessels or the cavity, continuing to grow. Tumor metastasis is the main cause of death in cancer patients. Therefore, it is the key in the scientific study of tumor to clarify the mechanism of tumor metastasis and explore treatments to destroy tumor metastasis cells.

     The paper, under the cooperation of Lishui University, Institute of Medical Science, Ningbo University and Institute of Nutritional Sciences, Shanghai Institutes for Biological Sciences, CAS, studied the regulatory role of the H19 long-chain noncoding RNA in tumor metastasis. The research found that H19 long chain noncoding RNA can mediate the start, migration and cloning formation of tumor metastasis through the competitive adsorption of tiny RNA miR – 200 b/c or let – 7b. Its findings will be helpful to explain the tumor metastasis in the new angle of view, providing the theoretical basis for the prevention, diagnosis and prognosis judgment of tumor metastasis and its gene therapy. The research has been funded by multiple funds, including National Natural Science Foundation of China and Natural Science Foundation of Zhejiang Province.

Dr. ZHOU Wu's Personal Profile:
    In December 2008, Dr. ZHOU Wu received a doctor’s degree in medicine after graduation from Institute of Immunology, Zhejiang University. From March 2009 to March 2012, he was engaged in postdoctoral research in Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology (IMCB), Singapore. In June 2013, he came to work in Faculty of Medicine and Health, Lishui University with main research direction for the molecular mechanism of tumor metastasis. In the past nearly five years, he has hosted and participated in 9 national and provincial projects, published six journal articles at home and abroad as the first author or corresponding author, completed one latitudinal project, and had three patents, which have been approved or passed the substantive audit. Now, Zhou Wu serves as the senior editor at AJCS and AJCI.
