LSU Dragon Boat Team Crowned Two Champions in the 5th ICDBT

        [Los Angeles] During July 30-31, the 5th Annual International Collegiate Dragon Boat Tournament (ICDBT) and the 20th Annual American International ICBDF Championships was held in Long Beach, California, U.S.A. LSU Dragon Boat Team, headed by Prof. SHAO Guoping, vice Party Secretary of LSU, Ms. QIU Suying, director of Students’ Affairs Office, and other three teachers, participated in the Tournament as a team of the Chinese Dragon Boat Delegation and became champions in Men Straight 200-meter and 500-meter races.


        The 5th Annual International Collegiate Dragon Boat Tournament and the 20th Annual American International ICDBF Championships was jointly sponsored by International Culture Exchange Association and International Collegiate Dragon Boat Federation (ICDBF). The 5th ICDBT set up altogether 6 events, including Men, Women, Mixed Straight 200-meter races and Men, Women, Mixed Straight 500-meter races with participants from diverse universities like CAL, UCLA, USC, Dynasty, Tianjing Normal University, Binhai College of Nankai University and Lishui University, etc. As a new participant, LSU Dragon Boat Team was crowned two champions with their persistent hard work and good teamwork. The team, cooperating with Women Dragon Boat Team of Binhai College, Nankai University, also won Second Prizes in Mixed Straight 500-meter and 200-meter races. Meanwhile, they also won the fourth in straight 500-meter race in partnership with 6 team members from Stanford University, UCLA and SJSU, and the fifth in 200-meter race together with Women Dragon Boat Team of Binhai College, Nankai University in open group of the 20th Annual American International ICDBF Championships.


        During their stay in U.S.A, LSU Dragon Boat Team also visited some prestigious universities like Harvard University, MIT, UCLA, Stanford University etc. and exchanged with dragon boat team of Harvard University on the Charles River, Boston after visiting their dragon boat and kayak training base.
